Florence Frost is 84 years old and lives in Hancock, Maine next to her older sister Rachel. Their younger sister Lillian lives not too far away in Franklin. All three women attended the Lincoln School for at least part of their primary schooling. This is their story.

As the town’s hyphenated name suggests, Dover and Foxcroft were once two separate towns that joined ranks in 1922. Today they bleed into each seamlessly.

Just south of Portland, Maine and right alongside the coast lies Old Orchard Beach—a roughly three-hour drive from the Lincoln School.

This summer we decided to drill a well on the Lincoln School property.

Now that she’s level, the schoolhouse is ready to be gutted from the inside out. Best we can figure, the last time the walls were updated were the 1950s, when electricity was first installed.
